Informal Language Development -measures growth in oral language conversations. The teacher shows the student
a picture and records what the student says about the picture, and analyzes responses for number of sentences,
correct sentences and phrases.
Student Oral Language Observation Matrix to observe children during classroom activities. While the teacher
observes he/she puts an x in the correct box describing the student's ability in comprehension, fluency,
vocabulary, punctuation and grammar.
Teacher Rating of Oral Language and Literacy measures critical speaking and listening skills needed to meet
standards in the classroom. This test can be used to see which students have language delays and if there are areas
where all students are struggling.
Dynamic indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)-assesses phonological awareness, alphabetic principle and
oral reading fluency. For example- A student may be asked to listen to a word and then use it in a sentence.
